I'm fascinated by how much spacecraft have changed in just 40 years. The Mercury capsules were hard-wired, mechanical. Switches and buttons. The gimbals were displayed by actual balls floating on the console. Today the space shuttle has a "glass cockpit." Everything is displayed on a computer screen.
