13 Nov 2004 ~ The 'Beals [Canon S40]

This week's Photo Friday challenge is "Family" and I thought for a while about what kind of pictures I have lying around, and what sort of photo I might take. My family doesn't live in Houston though, and while my friends are certainly a kind of family, they're not what I wanted to post.

I finally settled on this shot, taken last December at my brother David's graduation from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. There's nothing remarkable about this photo. Nothing unique about the composition or the exposure or the coloring (unless you count the fact that my normally dirty blond hair was dyed very, very dark, but thankfully I've emerged from that phase). It's a very ordinary picture...but it's what I immediately thought of when I saw the prompt. This is my family.

We only find ourselves all in the same place once a year at Christmas, and the older I get, the more I look forward to the holidays. I look forward to that week and a half when the six of us are together.
