11 Nov 2004 Heavy Lifting

Another shot taken a month ago when my sister and future brother-in-law were visiting and I gave them a tour of work. This is a robotic arm used to practice maneuvers and procedures on the ground before doing them for real in space.

The actual arm is lightweight because it doesn't have to fight gravity. This arm is beefed up enough to support its own weight, and the weight of the giant balloons acting as space station modules.
